Nottingham Forest Eyeing Permanent Deal For United Keeper Dean Henderson

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Nottingham Forest is reportedly interested in permanently signing Dean Henderson from Manchester United.

Henderson, who has been on loan at Forest throughout the season, was informed of their intention after their Premier League status was secured with a win against Arsenal. They are willing to negotiate a deal for up to £30 million and have revealed the salary they are prepared to offer.

The English star, currently earning £ 110,000 a week at United, had his wages fully covered by Forest during his loan spell. He is under contract with United until 2025, with an option for an additional year.

Henderson has not played since January 14 and could be out of action until early August due to a thigh strain that required surgery. The keeper wants to play regular Premier League football as he aims to reclaim his spot in the England squad for the European Championship next summer in Germany.

Despite being at Forest during his recovery, Henderson was present for their victory over Arsenal. United has been uncertain about Henderson’s future for some time, and he was disappointed when former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer went back on his promise to make him the first-choice goalkeeper at the start of last season.

Henderson did not train under current manager Erik Ten Hag, and they only spoke for the first time via a video call in January, when Ten Hag assessed whether Henderson would return early from his loan, similar to Martin Dubravka’s return to Newcastle.

The Red Devils denied Henderson permission to play against them in the League Cup semi-finals before his thigh injury occurred, which ruled him out of both legs.

Henderson joined United’s academy in 2011 and had loan spells at Stockport County, Grimsby Town, Shrewsbury Town, and Sheffield United before making his United debut in 2020.

While there is uncertainty about David de Gea’s role at United beyond this season, he is expected to sign a new contract. The Old Trafford side has also shown interest in Anderlecht shot-stopper Bart Verbruggen.
