Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has officially signed a contract extension with the Red Devils which will keep him at the club until 2023 with the option to extend his stay for another year.
The Spaniard joined Manchester United back in 2011 from Atletico Madrid and has helped the English giants to win a Premier League title, an FA Cup, one Europa League, and one League Cup as well. However, De Gea’s contract at Old Trafford was set to expire in the summer of 2020 before signing a new deal and the 28-year-old was linked with a move away from the club with Juventus interested in his services.
Manchester United officially confirmed that De Gea will stay at Old Trafford for at least another four seasons as he agreed to extend his stay at the club until 2023. De Gea has had a dip in form over the last few seasons and came under some criticism from the United faithful for his inability to make even some simple saves.
But there is no denying that De Gea has saved Manchester United on more than several occasions in the past proving that he is one of the best in the business. United fans will also be glad to know that De Gea’s commitment to the club means that he intends to remain and win trophies with the 20 time League champions rather than move to either Real Madrid or Juventus.
De Gea will also have the chance to extend his stay for another season at the end of his term as an option to remain at Old Trafford.
