Manchester United supervisor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer felt Fred’s tackle that saw him shipped off was “not even close to a foul” however said the midfielder may have been fortunate before.
Fred was shipped off in the second half of United’s 3-1 Champions League misfortune at home to Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday. The Brazilian was reserved in the principal half for an obvious headbutt on Leandro Paredes, prior to getting his subsequent yellow card in the wake of seeming to win the ball in front of Ander Herrera.
Fred surrendered four fouls however his eight belongings picked up were the equivalent most at Old Trafford in spite of seeing red with 20 minutes remaining.
Solskjaer mourned the choice that saw the midfielder shipped off, despite the fact that conceded he may have been lucky before.
Solksjaer said: “We spoke to him at half-time and be sensible and I thought he was. I thought he played really well. I thought he was very, very sensible in the second half and he covers the ground, he gets up to men without trying to tackle. The ball that he actually gets a yellow card for though, the tackle, that’s nowhere near a foul. So, if you see that again, that’s a mistake by the referee. But that’s also a human error, it’s allowed. You can’t, I can’t sit there and complain about that now. I thought Fred was unlucky there, but he was probably lucky enough to come off for the first half.”
Prior to a subsequent yellow card on 70 minutes, the chief expressed Fred had been fortunate to remain on when, following 24 minutes, he seemed to headbutt Leandro Paredes. On the VAR’s guidance the official, Daniel Orsato, considered the pitch-side screen and gave just a first yellow card.
Fred’s second card came through a reckless challenge on Ander Herrera which ultimately proved his fate. The card changed the course of the game from there on and United found it difficult to control the tempo of the game.
