Ole Gunnar Solskjaer backs Cavani after the weekend’s Arsenal fixture

Edinson Cavani made his way to Manchester United on a free transfer and many people felt that this was a panic buy rather than anything else. Edinson Cavani has been useful in whatever time he has got on the pitch.

Edinson Cavani was not his clinical self when Manchester United took on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium and the critics were quick to point this out.

Ole being a striker himself understands the pressure of delivering week in and week out and he had some kind words for the Uruguayan.

“He’s there, I was a striker myself, I had periods when I don’t score, the gaffer [Sir Alex Ferguson] and everyone around me would say ‘you were there to miss the chances’,” Solskjaer told MUTV.

Cavani is a more natural striker as compared to Anthony Martial or Marcus Rashford and his instincts can be seen on the pitch. Every player is guilty of missing a few chances and Edinson tried his best even though he spurned a couple of opportunities with crosses from Luke Shaw and Wan-Bissaka.

Marcus Rashford also spurned a really good opportunity as the attackers looked off the mark in a stalemate that should have provided us with at least a few goals.

An out and out attacker has to always be mentally prepared for all the opportunities that may come his way but that will also be a tough task considering the way the schedule is fixed this season. Getting out of a rut can be tough for any player but it is good to know that the coach and the club have his back at the moment.
