As the Champions League draws were out last night, Manchester United had been drawn into the ‘Group of death’. The Red Devils have been drawn with PSG, RB Leipzig and Istanbul Besakshehir in the group stage of the Champions League. In arguably the toughest group in the league, former United player, Owen Hargreaves is confident about United’s chances of coming out of the group stage.
There has been despair amongst the United fanbase regarding the group the Red Devils have been drawn into. Without much transfer activities, United aren’t the favourites to come out of this group with flying colours. But Owen Hargreaves is quietly confident about his former side’s chances of making it out of the ‘Group of Death’.
While speaking as a pundit on BT Sports, he said: “I think they can be confident, quietly confident. PSG are the strongest team in the group, but Man United are the second strongest team in the group. Leipzig have a brilliant young manager and he’ll relish playing against Manchester United.”
He also added that “It’s not ideal, the group that they’ve got, but hopefully they can go into it, get a couple of players, and finish if not first, finish second.” Even though Manchester United are in a tough group, Hargreaves expects the Red Devils to come out victorious, because of the players United have. The Red Devils will have to be at their best to overcome PSG and Leipzig and move out of the group stage.
