Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has admitted that clubmate Eric Bailly would be the ideal person to be stuck in quarantine with because his colleague makes him “laugh all day long”.
The 27-year-old further explained that he is eager to return to playing football on the pitch and Pogba is waiting to prove his doubters wrong.
The World Cup-winning midfielder was approaching a comeback from a long-term injury problem with his ankle when the season was called to a standstill from March 13 onwards due to the coronavirus outbreak in the UK.
The French midfielder also underwent surgery for his ankle issue back earlier in January and has only featured in eight matches in all competitions for the Red Devils this campaign missing 39 in the process.
All of the United players and staff have been forced to remain in lockdown and follow a period of self-isolation at the moment. The laws laid out by the UK Government have also forced United ace Pogba to continue his recovery from home and follow a number of fitness programmes sent via video calls and email by the club training staff.
The Manchester United midfielder explained that he keeps in regular contact with all of his team-mates, but misses Ivorian centre back Bailly the most due to his unique sense of humour.
While speaking to MUTV, Pogba stated that if he had one player to spend time during the quarantine, it would be Eric Baily, “I spoke with Eric, I spoke with Andreas [Pereira], I spoke with Victor [Lindelof], I spoke with Juan [Mata], Jesse [Lingard]… we all talk, we send messages and stuff like this. We keep in touch and we see everyone [on screen]. If I had to isolate with somebody? Eric Bailly, for sure. He will make me laugh all day long!”
Pogba further added that he is continuing his training from home, “I have a little home gym in my house, I can do some training, some running, some bike, go outside and do some things with the ball. I am just keeping busy and keeping healthy.
