Paul Pogba has been called ‘La Pioche’ among his teammates and this has increased the excitement of fans as if why do they call Pogba by that name.
Pogba answered this question in a Fans Q&A forum in which he cleared the ongoing confusion regarding the mysterious name. La Pioche is a French word considering Pogba is also French. It now seems that they call him by this name because of the nature of the player with his teammates.
As indicated by the club’s official website, Pogba said: “I don’t think people understand as it’s a French word. Basically, it’s like the joker; the person that jokes and likes to annoy people sometimes. But in a jokey way. That’s ‘La Pioche’. How I see it – the Pioche to other people. It comes from the comedian that is called Michel Gohou, from Ivory Coast. He used to joke with people and he used to say jokes; say things that never happened. Stuff like that. My La Pioche is a bit different from that Pioche! I don’t know if you get it?!”
In English the word basically means pickaxe but Pogba’s explanation makes it known differently. Pogba has been an energetic person off the field as well and by looking at his nature, it seems that he is a lot funnier with his teammates than we expected.
His performances have also provided that shine in the United’s squad. He has been sublime in his position and has been completely dominant in recent games. His perfect passing and accurate positioning have received huge praises. His current performances in the Premier League and the most recent one in the Europa League against Roma have been simply perfect.
He seems to be a completely different player now, a player who is very happy right now at Manchester United. We all hope that he signs a new contract and continues his progress. His presence is important for United to build a new era and compete for major trophies.
