Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly striped French midfielder Paul Pogba of his penalty duties after his miss against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night.
Manchester United had the chance to go to the top of the Premier League table with a win over Nuno Espirito Sanchez’ Wolves side but the game ended 1-1 with both sides sharing the spoils. The Red Devils took the lead early in the first half when Anthony Martial put the visitor’s ion front but Ruben Neves produced a gem of a strike to draw the home side level in the second half.
But some fantastic work from Paul Pogba earned Manchester United a penalty which gave United the chance to regain the lead once again.
During the game against Chelsea, Rashford won the first penalty and converted from the spot but this time there was a bit of an on-field argument between Pogba and Marcus Rashford over who would take the spot-kick but since the World Cup-winning Frenchman won the set-piece, he won the battle to take the penalty.
Unfortunately for Pogba, Wolves keeper, Rui Patricio produced a stunning save to deny the World Cup winner and Solskjaer felt embarrassed about the entire incident. The Norwegian boss ripped into both the players in the dressing room and confirmed that Pogba will not be taking any more penalties if Rashford was on the pitch.
Solskjaer has reportedly stated that Rashford will now be the only designated penalty taker after Pogba has missed four penalties since the past two seasons while Rashford has netted all six of his six spot-kicks in his career.
