Manchester United battered Istanbul Basaksehir last night as the Red Devils scored four goals past the Turkish club at Old Trafford. One of the catalysts for Manchester United’s thumping victory was Bruno Fernandes as he clinched a brace but had a golden opportunity to have a hat-trick. In his recent talk show with the BT Sport, Paul Scholes has expressed his shock to how Fernandes let Rashford take the penalty.
Bruno Fernandes was already on the score sheet twice, when Manchester United were awarded a penalty around the 35th minute. But unlike the general routine, Bruno Fernandes didn’t take up the penalty and rather gave it to Marcus Rashford. Fernandes was taken off in the second half and ended the game with only a brace where he could’ve easily had a hat-trick.
In the talk show, Paul Scholes said: “I don’t get it. Fernandes has taken all the penalties when he’s played. He’s on the chance of a hat-trick on a European night, I don’t understand it. But ultimately we get the same result so there’s not too much damage done.”
Manchester United ended the game with all three points and a scoreline of 4-1 against Istanbul Basaksehir, taking their revenge well. With the penalty goal, Marcus Rashford leads the way for the scorers in the Champions League with five goals. Rashford and Fernandes have been amongst the goals lately and Solskjaer will hope both will continue their red-hot form in front of the goal.
