Manchester United FC legend Paul Scholes believes that the Red Devils have signed a brilliant player in their new signing Bruno Fernandes.
Scholes hailed the impressive showing Fernades has displayed since signing for the Premier League side earlier this year from Sporting Lisbon and has compared the Portuguese attacking midfielder to Manchester City FC’s Spanish maestro David Silva. S
Since joining Manchester United FC in January, Fernandes has had an immediate impact on the entire Red Devils squad and has even won the Premier League Player of the Month award for February.
Scholes voiced his delight at the terrific signing Fernandes is turning out to be and believed that he is a wonderful addition to the Red Devils squad, similar to what David Silva is to Manchester City FC. Fernandes has scored twice and assisted thrice in the five games he has appeared so far for Manchester United FC in the Premier League.
The player hopes to follow in the footsteps of former Manchester United player and one of the world’s great ever football players Cristiano Ronaldo, whom Fernandes looks up to and partners in the Portugal national squad.
The Manchester United legend Scholes, who played nearly 700 matches for the Red Devils, stated that the Manchester United squad were a bit dull to watch prior to the arrival of Fernandes in the winter transfer window of 2020. Praising the Portuguese, Scholes added that a player of his quality has been able to link the play in the squad and helped in the total transformation of the team. Moreover, the former Red Devils player also made note of how quickly Fernandes has adapted to the playing style of the Premier League and made his impact.
Manchester United FC are fifth in the Premier League table with three points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea FC. Both teams will be competing against each other for a top-four finish which will guarantee them a spot in next seasons UEFA Champions League.
The Red Devils were on a fine run of form before the suspension of the Premier League season in March due to the ongoing pandemic. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hopeful of his team continuing their rich vein of form and seal a Champions League spot for next season.
