Paulo Dybala reveals he was close to moving to Manchester United FC last summer

Juventus ace Paulo Dybala has revealed that he was very close to moving to Manchester United FC towards the end of last season’s transfer window.

The Argentine forward was closely pursued by both former Manchester United FC manager Jose Mourinho as well his successor Ole Gunnar Solskjær with a move to Old Trafford in mind. Dybala had appeared to be close to leaving Italian giants Juventus last year over dissatisfaction with living in Turin and playing in the Serie A.

The 26-year old Dybala had endured an inconsistent 2018-19 season and his poor performances for Juventus saw the Argentine forward being greeted in a hostile fashion by the supporters of the Old Lady. The player has now stated that there had been a year where Juventus did not count on him and were open to the idea of allowing him to leave the club amid interest from other top European sides.

Dybala claimed that there had been considerable interest from Premier League sides Manchester United FC and Tottenham Hotspurs, as well as Ligue 1 champions PSG.

However, the player has clarified that he had not spoken directly to any of the teams interested in signing him.

Juventus had taken part in discussions with the teams wanting to sign Dybala. However, the 26-year old had reiterated his decision to stay in Turin and play in the Juventus colours. Dybala explained his reason for not leaving the club as he wanted to improve his performances rather than departing Juventus on a sour note with the fans.

Moreover, he felt hat he had given a lot for the Italians side over the past seasons and would prefer to stay in Turin a bit longer.

Manchester United FC were believed to be strong suitors of Dybala’s signature with the Premier League side even reported to have had cub scouts to watch the Argentine forward in action. Dybala’s displeasure with Juventus at that time made the Red Devils reach out to the Italian giants over a possible deal for their player.

However, the talks did not materialise as Dybala stay put in Turin and Manchester United FC ended their interest in signing the player.
