Peter Schmeichel brands Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s work at Manchester United FC as a tremendous job

Former Manchester United FC goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has lauded the work done by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since the Norwegian was brought on by the Red Devils board to manage the Premier League side and revive their sinking fortunes.

Schmeichel, who along with Solskjaer was a part of the Manchester United FC treble-winning squad in 1999 under Sir Alex Ferguson, has termed the performance of Solskjaer as ‘terrific’ considering the relatively short period of time he has had as the coach of the Premier League side.

Solskjaer was hired by the Red Devils after the sacking of Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho and was initially brought in by the Manchester United FC board on an interim basis from Solskjaer’s former club Molde.

A run of brilliant results for the Reds Devils, including a fantastic comeback against Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-German in the UEFA Champions League round of 16, led to the United supporters clamouring for the Norwegian to be appointed as the Red Devils manager on a permanent basis.

Schmeichel voiced his admiration for Solskjaer’s dedicated approach towards making the Manchester United FC squad more consistent and instilled in his team players a sense of hard work.

The former Danish goalkeeper also voiced the fact that Solskjaer took over the Red Devils squad that consisted of players who had played under four former club managers Sir Alex Ferguson, David Moyes, Louis Van Gaal, and Mourinho.

However, such a scenario did not faze Solskjaer and the former Red Devils striker has shown his managerial ability by clubbing the talents of all players in his squad, irrespective of age. Moreover, the signings made by Solskjaer in Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo have paid off handsomely for the 13 times Premier League champions.

With the 2019-20 Premier League season set to restart on 17th June, Manchester United FC finds themselves in the fifth spot in the Premier League table, three points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea FC. Before the suspension of the league, the Red Evils were on an 11 match unbeaten streak and would be hoping to continue their hot run of form and claim a Champions League berth for next season.
