Phil Jones gets another lifeline at Manchester United

Manchester United have been focussing more on releasing some of the fringe players this transfer window as compared to bringing in more new additions to the squad.

Jesse Lingard has gone out on loan to West ham while other players like Marcos Rojo and Sergio Romero were released this transfer window. It looked like Phil Jones was also set to be released in this transfer window. While many rumoured speculations were linking him to a move away from the club he has just been given a lifeline by Ole Gunnar Solksjaer. Manchester United have struggled to create a solid defensive base in the past few seasons.

Phil Jones has fallen really low down the pecking order in this Manchester United lineup right now but the coach has shown faith in him and is willing to give him a new lease of life. Ole is waiting for him to return from injury so that he can be fit to play.

Another reason for this may be due to the fact that Marcos Rojo just left the club and having another backup will certainly not hurt the squad especially due to how injury-prone the players have become this season due to their jam-packed schedule.

Phil Jones is another defender who started his career with a lot of potential and came up the ranks but has withered away with time. Many people have already written him off and thought that he would be let go in this window itself.

Only time will say if Phil Jones will be able to repay the manager’s faith in him.
