Phil Jones: Winning the Premier League is a special feeling

Manchester United centre-back Phil Jones has described the feeling of lifting a Premier League trophy with the club.

Phil Jones was part of the remarkable team built by Sir Alex Ferguson that last lifted the Premier League for Manchester United in 2013. David De Gea was the most beloved goalkeeper in the squad and Michael Carrick who played s crucial role in the team has now joined hands with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Since then, Manchester United has failed to lift a Premier League trophy for the past 8 years. Nevertheless, Phil Jones has talked about how special it feels to lift the prestigious trophy for Man United.

In the latest United podcasts, Phil Jones said:

“Special, very special. I go back to it, as a kid, if you’d have told me I’d win the Premier League with Man United… There are some things I get, a lot of players win the Premier League these days, but there are so many players that were good players who will never come close to winning the Premier League. And to win the Premier League, to have that on your CV [is huge].”

Phil Jones has won the FA Cup, Community Shield, Premier League trophy, and a UEFA Europa League trophy to add in the ranks. He would be frustrated that he has been left out due to his injury. He suffered a terrible knee injury in early 2020 which had drowned his chances of playing in the entire year and even in the earlier months of 2021.

He returned to fitness just a few months back and was named as a substitute in the latest Carabao Cup match against West Ham which Manchester United ultimately lost by a 2-1 scoreline.

Certainly, it’s the best feeling to lift the most prestigious trophy that has been United’s favourite since the 1990s. Sir Alex Ferguson has been the pioneer in helping the club grab 13 PL trophies to their name.

We eagerly wait for the next one.
