Paul Pogba started for the first time in the Premier League this season, after the loss to Tottenham earlier, against Arsenal. But the Frenchman had a very poor game and also gave the penalty which led to the only goal of the boring and slow game. In his post-match press conference, Pogba has admitted that it was his mistake and he should not have conceded the penalty.
Manchester United had a very poor game last night, as Arsenal dominated the play, almost throughout the match. The likes of Pogba, Fred and McTominay failed top have any positive influence on the game and played very passively, losing the ball several times. To everyone’s shock, Pogba wasn’t even taken off after having a poor game and ended the entire game on the pitch.
In his post-match press conference, he said: “My mistake, I shouldn’t do that. I have to be better in the box defensively. When you run forward and back, a player runs behind you. When you get in the box, you have to be… not more clever – in French, the word is lucid. I don’t know the word in English but I have to be fresher in the box, on my feet.”
Paul Pogba needs to reinvigorate his Manchester United career and needs to prove his worth to Solskjaer and the United fanbase. The Frenchman showed glimpses of his great potential against PSG and RB Leipzig, which earned him the start last night. It was the second penalty Pogba has conceded this season and he surely needs to be more careful from the next game.
