Police called to neutralize protest by Manchester United fans

On Friday, police were called to neutralize a protest organized by Manchester United fans against the club’s American owners.

It took place at Carrington and was described and was a calm protest. Police dog handlers were called to the area, according to the Daily Mail.

The demonstration was planned by a supporter organization known as ‘1958,’ whose goal is to drive United’s unpopular owners out.

Manchester United is owned by the six children of Malcolm Glazer, who bought majority ownership in the club in 2005 before delisting it from the New York Stock Exchange.

‘The 1958’ has arranged yet another protest. It will take place on Saturday before and during United’s Premier League match against Norwich.

It will start with a march to Old Trafford, followed by people refusing to enter the stadium’s seating area during the first 17 minutes of the game.

Shortly before interim manager, Ralf Rangnick spoke at a press conference on Friday, there was a protest at Carrington. The fans are obviously not happy with the result away at Everton.

Manchester United’s previous match ended in a 1-0 defeat against Everton, leaving them six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham and 23 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City.

The club supporters’ protests against the Glazers are nothing new. A big protest had taken place last May, before a game against Liverpool at Old Trafford.
