In an effort to sign Marcus Rashford for free, Paris Saint-Germain is willing to offer the Manchester United star a massive salary package.
The former Red Devils player has been in great form for United this season, scoring eight goals and dishing out three assists in 19 games played in all competitions. During England’s World Cup run, the 25-year-old also performed admirably. Despite playing only a few minutes, he still scored three goals.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi recently praised Rashford as a very outstanding player, and according to The Mirror, the club is prepared to pay him an eye-watering wage.
Rashford is about to enter the final six months of his contract on January 1, and it is rumoured that Paris Saint-Germain is ready to start talks about a pre-contract for the upcoming campaign.
With a salary of £850,000 per week or £44.3 million annually, the French champions are willing to make Rashford one of the highest-paid players in history. Al-Khelaifi has stated that the Ligue 1 powerhouses are interested in Rashford. But since United presently has the option to prolong his stay for another 12 months, their prospects of obtaining him on a free transfer next summer are unlikely to materialise.
Instead of being based on the club and the player, the extension clause is club-dependent. Rashford will remain with United for at least another season as a result.
While PSG is still a distant concern for the Red Devils, they must move quickly in their negotiations with the English player because PSG is actively seeking his services. The onus is on the board to make a revised offer to persuade Rashford to stay after it was reported that he rejected a £300,000-per-week initial offer.
The club might decide to sell him for £80 million if no deal is reached by the end of the current campaign.
