Qatar investors set to make a formal bid for Manchester United within days

As reported by The Daily Mail, the Qatar investors are in the running to buy Manchester United and they planned to make a formal offer in the coming days.

The Glazers stated in November that they would be open to hearing proposals for either a share in or an outright purchase of the Premier League giants. A number of groups have expressed interest in buying United, which might fetch a record price for a sports club of close to, or even more than, £6 billion.

Raines Group is tasked with the sale, as interest has arrived from the Middle East, the Far East, and the United States. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a British millionaire and childhood United supporter, is equally enthusiastic about a deal.

However, the Daily Mail reports that a Qatar-based investment consortium will make an offer for United. According to the article, “a group of private, high-wealth individuals living in the oil-rich state have set their sights on” the Old Trafford team as a result of Qatar hosting the World Cup. An offer is expected to be made in the upcoming days. The investing group reportedly believes their offer will easily defeat all other competitors and they want to dramatically increase manager Erik ten Hag’s transfer budget.

Along with paying more than £6 billion to buy the club, the Qatari group may also have to renovate Old Trafford and build a brand-new state-of-the-art stadium.

Although it might cost more than £2 billion, there would be no issue. The Qataris’ takeover offer also places a strong emphasis on fan involvement. They will ask supporters for their opinions on the future of the club.

However, Qatar Sports Investments also owns Paris Saint-Germain and that could be a major stumbling block. One organisation cannot own two teams in the same league and both clubs may face each other in the UCL.

There is zero interest in buying partial ownership, and the bid for United would come from distinct, individual Qatari investors.

If the deal is successful, it will intensify United’s rivalry with Manchester City, which is owned by Abu Dhabi, a Gulf neighbour. United would also compete against Newcastle, which is owned by Saudi Arabia owns.
