According to The Daily Mail, Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani has made one final bid to buy Manchester United.
The Qataris have improved their offer in an effort to beat out rival Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s bid. Although this is Sheikh Jassim’s fourth and last offer to buy the club, it is still believed to place a lower value on the club than Ratcliffe.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe now has the upper hand in the battle to acquire the club after the third round of bidding was concluded.
The Qataris are interested in buying the entire club. On the other hand, Ratcliffe wants to take over United, and the Glazers will continue to be minority shareholders.
Ratcliffe, the richest man in Britain, is aware that the Glazers intend to profit from United. His current bid places the club’s value at around £6 billion, which is thought to be the American owners’ asking price.
According to Daily Mail, Sheikh Jassim can forget about being the new owner of United if his “take it or leave it” offer is still less than Ratcliffe’s values. The Red Devils have long been viewed as a money-making machine by the Glazer family.
Given their 18-year tenure at the club, it is likely that they will choose the deal that offers them the most money over the proposal.
A significant portion of the United supporters wants the Glazers to fully leave the club. The fans do not want the current owners to stay even as minority stakeholders in the club.
United manager Erik ten Hag is aware of what his summer transfer budget would be and it will be further clarified if this takeover story is resolved swiftly.
