Raphael Varane opens up on his Manchester United move

New signing Manchester United defender Raphael Varane is delighted to join the historic club and has spoken about his move to the theatre of dreams.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer was an influential figure in convincing the French center-back to join his squad.

Varane was unveiled as a new Manchester United player on Saturday before the kick-off against Leeds. It was a rather classy way of introducing the player to the big crowd at Old Trafford.

The former Real Madrid’s move to Old Trafford was delayed due to visa issues. Due to this, he joined late and was unable to make it to the bench against Leeds United. His quarantine phase and medical tests were completed quickly and he signed a new contract until 2025.

Varane has revealed Solksjaer’s influence in his sensational move to Old Trafford. While talking to the club’s official website, he said: “Yes, of course [I spoke to him]. It was very important for me to know exactly about the philosophy and what the challenges and objectives are, and the ambitions – that was very important for me. And I feel a real determination and an ambition to work very hard and to try to do everything that is possible to win trophies. That motivates me. Yes, I came here because I wanted new emotions and it was exactly what I expected and bigger. It was a massive, a great moment, and I want to say to the fans thank you, and I will do my best to leave everything on the pitch.”

Sir Alex Ferguson tried to sign Raphael Varane back in 2011 but the French defender was rather amazed by Zinedine Zidane’s plans. He then signed a new contract and remained at Bernabeu.

Never mind, he is now made the move and in his prime years, he has a lot to offer. Along with Jadon Sancho, he will help Manchester United build a great team, a team determined to win trophies.

He will be fit to play against Southampton on the 22nd of August and the fans can’t wait to see their new signing dominate the field.
