Marcus Rashford scored his second goal of the season and the first goal in the Premier League this season. The English winger hasn’t reached his peak since the restart and was visibly out of shape and in pain. But in his post-match interview, Solskjaer has said what instigated Rashford to go on a score a world-class solo goal against Brighton yesterday in the 3-2 win over the Seagulls.
The Red Devils narrowly escaped from a draw and went on to win the game, in what was the last kick of the match. Rashford had a fairly quiet game but came with United’s second goal from a Bruno Fernandes assist. Solskjaer has revealed in his post-match press conference that he had a go at Rashford at half-time which led to the winger being pumped up for the next half.
Solskjaer said in the conference that “He was getting better and better. I had a little bit of a go at him halfway through the first-half for a tackle he evaded, but I think his reaction, his sharpness is getting better, he’s more direct.” Rashford was much better in the second half and scored a superb solo goal.
It must be encouraging for Solskjaer and the other United players seeing Rashford amongst the goals. The winger was United’s second-highest goalscorer last season and will look to have an even better season.
