Rasmus Hojlund reveals he held talks with Erik ten Hag before Old Trafford move

Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund revealed that he had regular conversations with manager Erik ten Hag leading up to his summer transfer from Atalanta.

Despite being 20 years old, Hojlund’s promising debut season in Serie A was enough to persuade the Red Devils to invest £72 million in securing his services.

While he hasn’t scored in the Premier League yet, he has already made an impact in the Champions League group stage with three goals.

In an interview with Ekstra Bladet, the Danish striker mentioned that talks with Ten Hag and the chance of a starting role played a huge role in his decision to make the switch to Old Trafford. He said:

“I spoke to the coach up until the transfer. For me, it was important to play football and if I had been told that I had to go to Manchester United to be a reserve for the rest of my days, I would never have gone there.”

In the Premier League, the young striker has frequently found himself in excellent scoring positions in the penalty area. However, he has been lacking the necessary supply from wide areas to convert those opportunities into goals.

Marcus Rashford, at times this season, had chances to set up Hojlund for goal-scoring opportunities but instead lost possession.

We believe that United will witness the former Serie A ace’s full potential in the upcoming months. The Danish striker is still in the process of getting to know his teammates and their playing style.

Once the Red Devils establish a consistent starting lineup, we expect to see improvements in their attacking performance. Hopefully, this improvement will occur shortly after the international break.

Hojlund has already demonstrated his skill with a remarkable solo goal earlier this month. The fans would expect that he could aim for at least 20 goals during his debut season at United.
