According to the Manchester Evening News, Real Madrid are showing concrete interest in Manchester United centre-back Lisandro Martinez.
The Red Devils splashed £56 million to bring him from Ajax last season and since then he has been a regular player under Erik ten Hag.
The 24-year-old has quickly won over Old Trafford fans and has forged an excellent partnership with former Madrid defender Raphael Varane. The duo has appeared unbeatable, but Varane has missed the last few games due to an injury he suffered last month.
In the past, Madrid and United have conducted a great deal of business, with the Spanish team frequently stealing players from the Theatre of Dreams and vice versa. The most recent transfers from Madrid to Manchester are Casemiro and Varane. Since the Argentine defender has a contract with the team until 2027, it is extremely unlikely that United would sell their best centre-back. He was brought to United for a reason, and the Dutch manager is rumoured to want to add another centre-back to pair with him at the back.
Martinez has been playing the trade with Argentina in the World Cup and he was given the responsibility to marshall the back line against Mexico yesterday.
The former Ajax centre-back’s aggressive approach, and strong marking and passing skills make him a valuable asset for Ten Hag.
