Manchester United are increasing their effort to secure summer transfers well before the beginning of the new season.
The major priority is to strengthen the backline with a new addition.
The club is currently in conversation for acquiring center-back Matthijs de Ligt along with the full back Noussair Mazraoui, his team mate at Bayern Munich.
Mazraoui transferred from Ajax to Bayern Munich on the same transfer summer when Erik ten Hag landed for duties at Manchester United, being aware of the fact of facing his former coach.
The Moroccan international has shown interest in coming to the Premier League, with Manchester United seriously investigating a deal that would see him join the club.
Bayern Munich would be open to selling Mazraoui for a fee in the region of €20 million and €25 million.
Manchester United believe that a price closer to €15 million and €20 million to be more realistic.

West Ham, too, are in the running for the signature of Mazraoui, though Manchester United seem the more aggressive suitor at this point.
Remarkably, the above interest in the services of Mazraoui from Manchester United reaffirms the zeal of the team to fortify their defense after acquiring the services of Matthijs de Ligt.
The team may have already landed the deal for Leny Yoro, but there is still more desire to bag another center-back to meet the position void after the departure of Raphael Varane and Willy Kambwala.
United’s opening offer of £30 million or thereabouts for de Ligt is short of the Bavarian’s demand, but negotiations continue, with United hopeful of pulling in the Dutch defender.
The club have already taken some positive steps to make the squad stronger by signing Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro.
Meanwhile, in defense, Diogo Dalot is currently primed to take the right-back spot when the season starts, following some great performances in the 2023-24 season.
But for sure, a potential departure of Aaron Wan-Bissaka would definitely unlock a berth in the wide defensive areas.
With the new Premier League season drawing closer, the interest on the part of Mazraoui and de Ligt will confirm Manchester United’s commitment to strengthening the squad.
