Premier League side Manchester United are reportedly willing to secure a deal for Sevilla star forward Wissam Ben Yedder in the summer transfer window as a potential replacement for Romelu Lukaku who is linked with a move to the San Siro to join Inter Milan.
Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a big task on his hands with Manchester United and has to strengthen his squad if he wants to compete for major titles with the English giants in the near future and get them back to the summit. The Norwegian wants to improve on the sixth-place finish that United achieved at in the Premier League last season after a torrid run of form.
The 46-year-old wants to bolster his attacking department and Solskjaer is unhappy with the performances of Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku, who despite scoring goals on a regular basis is unable to fit into the style of Solskjaer’s brand of football.
Serie A club Inter Milan are closing to confirming a deal for the 26-year-old Belgian forward but Manchester United will be looking for an upgrade in return and have lined up Sevilla hitman Wissam Ben Yedder as a replacement for Lukaku.
The French attacker gained a reputation as one of the most feared strikers in the European continent as he netted 30 times in 51 appearances across all competitions last season. But Ben Yedder has admitted that he wants a move to a bigger club if they opportunity prevails.
The 28-year-old Ben Yedder said that he would be open to a move away from Sevilla but will also be respectable towards the club and the choices that they make, “I dream of playing at the highest level, in the biggest clubs in the world and be next to world-class players. To see how far I can go. I cannot be disrespectful in the club. Whatever the final decision, I’ll be fine. I’m not worried about my future. I will find a balance after the choice is made, but it will also be Sevilla who decides.”
Ben Yedder still has two years left on his current deal with the Spanish outfit but would be happy to remain at Sevilla for another season. However, Manchester United will hope to lure in the striker to Old Trafford this summer as his release clause of £37 million is quite a steal for the quality of a player like the lethal Ben Yedder.
