Red Devils plan on securing Fosu-Mensah’s future at Old Trafford

Manchester United FC are eager on agreeing a new contract with defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah before allowing the Dutch international to depart for further loan spells in order to develop further as a player and become a part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future plans at Old Trafford.

The player had recently signed a one-year contract extension with the Red Devils and Solskjaer does not want the youngster to run down his contract on loan with another side.

The player’s recent contract extension enabled him to continue as a Manchester United FC until June 2021 and Solskjaer would be keen on tying down Fosu-Mensah’s future with the Premier League side for the foreseeable future.

The Dutch international has had loan spells at English sides Fulham FC and Crystal Palace FC. However, none of these stints away from Old Trafford have proved to be productive for Fosu-Mensah guaranteeing his foray into the Manchester United FC starting lineup.

Moreover, with the addition of Aaron Wan Bisakaa last summer to the Red Devils squad, the right-back position seems to be out of reach for the 22-year old Fosu-Mensah. However, the imminent departures of Marcus Rojo and Chris Smalling in the summer could provide a glimmer of hope to the player to excel in the centre-back role for the Red Devils alongside Harry Maguire.

Fosu-Mensah has proved himself to be an incredibly versatile player with the Dutch international excelling in the right-back, centre-back as well as in the holding midfield positions. The player has also been capped three times by the Dutch international team and has been touted for a major part in the future of the national team if he manages to make the most of the opportunities given to him.

Despite receiving a ton of criticism for his loan spells away from Manchester United FC, there is a lot of potential in Fosu-Mensah. The player is yet to get some first-team action by team manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and would be hoping to make the most of it when given the chance to impress on the football pitch.

With the Premier League set to restart shortly and with the Red Devils set to face Tottenham Hotspurs in their first encounter since the league was suspended, Fosu-Mensah has certainly got a point to prove to his doubters and secure his future in the Manchester United FC shirt.
