The latest reports have claimed that Manchester United have prioritized the signing of Lazio superstar Sergej Milinkovic Savic in the summer transfer window ahead of closing in on a deal for Bruno Fernandes.
The Red Devils have already begun their rebuilding this summer after a nightmarish campaign last term when they finished in sixth place in the Premier League table. United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already made a few summer acquisitions in the summer transfer market as United have snapped up deals for Daniel James and Aaron Wan Bissaka but it’s quite clear that the English giants need more reinforcements if they are to get back to the summit of English football.
With Paul Pogba’s future at Old Trafford still under speculation, United are looking at suitable options to replace the World Cup-winning Frenchman this summer transfer market. The 26-year-old midfield ace is linked with a move to Real Madrid and United already lost Ander Herrera to Paris Saint Germain earlier this summer which means they are running short in the midfield department.
Solskjaer is keen on making a few more signings before the transfer market shuts and a number of midfielders are linked to joining United. Newcastle United’s Sean Longstaff, Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes, Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen, and Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic Savic are tipped with a move to the 20-times English champions.
Bruno Fernandes remains the favorite player to join United on that list and the Portuguese midfielder had admitted that he is interested in playing his football at the Theatre of Dreams. But recent reports claim that United are prioritizing a move for Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic Savic ahead of the impressive Fernandes
The 24-year-old Serbian midfielder did not reach the similar heights he achieved the previous season but still managed seven goals and three assists for the Italian club across all competitions. Milinkovic Savic has the ability to play his football in the attacking third as well as help out his teammates in defense but his ability to hold up play is something that distinguishes him from the rest.
Solskjaer believes that Savic will have a similar impact in midfield if Pogba leaves behind the void and the Serbian could play alongside his national teammate Nemanja Matic.
