Manhcester United defender Marcus Rojo has backed under fire manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to turn things around at United.
The Red Devils are 13th in the Premier League table following Sunday’s 1-1 draw with rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford, having won just two of their opening nine games of the season.
Solskjaer has been publicly backed by executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, who insists the Norwegian is leading a promising project at the club.
And now Rojo has come out in support for Ole after United earned respect at the weekend by earning a 1-1 draw with league leaders Liverpool in a game they were expected to lose heavily in.
Speaking to the Athletic, he stressed that the Norwegian has the full support of the squad and that they believe in his ideas, despite some calls from supporters to bring in a new manager with a winning mentality.
‘He’s a good person,‘ he said. ‘He has the long-term ideas to improve the team and I have confidence in him.
‘Training is fine, we work hard but we know it’s all about results and we know we have not been getting them.’
Rojo was a surprise pick in the starting eleven against Liverpool, starting on the left of a back three alongside Lindelof and Harry Maguire. The 29-year-old hardly put a foot wrong in the game as United looked solid defensively.
Manchester United’s next game is a trip to Partizan Belgrade in the Europa League on Thursday night before traveling to Carrow Road to play Norwich on Sunday.
