Manchester United FC are surely looking to sign a new centre-back this transfer window after Maguire and Lindelof haven’t cemented their places. The Red Devils have looked at several players who they could sign to fill in the centre-back berth at United. Recently, Dutch legend Ruud Gullit suggested Manchester United sign centre-back Dayot Upamecano, who plays for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.
Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof haven’t looked well as a centre-back pairing and have conceded goals against stronger oppositions. The Red Devils are looking for a young and pacy centre-back to play along with Harry Maguire at the heart of United’s defence. In a recent interview with BeIN Sports, Ruud Gullit has suggested United study and replicate Liverpool’s model of success.
Upamecano is one of the best young centre-backs in the world and is ready to move on from Leipzig. Gullit said “What was the first thing Klopp did with Liverpool? He bought a good defence. He bought a goalkeeper and good defenders because everything starts there. I think Man United should start there as well. I saw something amazing with Leipzig and Dayot Upamecano.”
But the defender recently renewed his contract with RB Leipzig, meaning it will be difficult to sign him immediately from Germany.
