Former Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs has urged for patience from the Old Trafford faithful as current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might need some more time to turn the ship towards success in the future.
United will travel to St James’ Park to face Newcastle United in search of their first away win of the season on Sunday following a bunch of dire performances over the past few weeks and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has come under pressure.
The game comes at the end of a week in which the Red Devils looked flat as in their 1-1 at home with Unai Emery’s Arsenal and a stalemate 0-0 away at AZ Alkmaar, failing to muster a shot on target against the Dutch side.
But ex-United and Welsh midfielder Ryan Giggs has claimed that Solskjaer has a tough job on his hands and it will take at least some time get back to the top. The 45-year-old Wales national team coach has stated shared 11 glorious years with Solskjaer but explained that it is no easy task as the previous managers at the club have experienced a similar fate.
Giggs said, “It’s a tough job at the moment, What Manchester United have had in the last four to five years is a mix of Sir Alex Ferguson, David Moyes, Louis Van Gaal, and Jose Mourinho players. Ole is trying to get back to what Manchester United used to be, picking young hungry players – like Dan James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire.
Liverpool and Manchester City are setting records galore and Giggs also stated that it’s unfortunate that Solskjaer has to compete against the likes of Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola for the Premiership, “But he’s unfortunate in a way to be in the same era as Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola.”
