Paul Scholes thinks that Solksjaer has no need to play two defensive midfielders every game.
Solskjaer has been encouraged by the strength that two holding midfielders bring to his side, particularly in the defining moments, with Scott McTominay and Fred turning into an ordinary midfield pair. In the interim, Nemanja Matic has just had a piece influence job.
We are under the feeling that Solskjaer doesn’t have full certainty yet in his midfielder matching, and two sitting players offer additional security for the United center-backs. Nonetheless, against Burnley at home this end of the week, we don’t think that United needs to stress a lot over the defensive midfielders when they have a sizable amount of players to beat them.
Pogba began as a winger for United on Thursday night and dazzled prior to being subbed at the span. It was an insightful choice to bring Donny van de Beek on the grounds that Granada were doing everything they could to get the Frenchman shipped off.
Scholes figures it is acceptable to see Marcus Rashford on that left-hand side with Pogba playing nearer to Fernandes in the center.
Scholes while speaking to the Sun, said: “Solskjaer likes the two sitting players, I don’t think there’s a need for both of them, they need to get Pogba in a linking role with Bruno, if they do, it frees up another position for a forward player. The awareness and cleverness they both have allowed each other to link up. United’s two cleverest players are Fernandes and Pogba so if you can get them close together, they’ll score a lot and provide goals for others too. If they have a more dominant center-back, they could have a more attacking midfield. A lot of the time, United that attacking, flowing play, I think Pogba could bring that with Fernandes. If you get them in there, it frees up the left for Rashford, there’s no way you’d want to play against that. Discipline-wise Pogba isn’t always there at times but going forward he brings something different.”
We think this analysis is actually correct to the point that United should free up both Pogba and Fernandes. This will help them play together and attack opponent teams with full strength. It will also help the United wingers to play out wide which will increase their creativity in attack.
