Injury Update

Scott McTominay and Alex Telles are back in training ahead of the fixture with Newcastle United

According to reports from The Daily Mail, McTominay and Telles were pictured back in training on Monday post their injuries.

During the fixture with Southhampton at St. Mary’s Stadium on 22nd August, McTominay was called onto the pitch, undeterred by an ongoing injury, in the 76′ minute as a substitute for Fred. Apparently, this swap escalated the Scottish man’s condition even more as it was reported that he needed to undergo a groin operation, later.

McTominay’s teammate Alex Telles has also been out of action for a month since he suffered an ankle injury during training. He has missed out on the start of the new season and also did not feature in the Club Friendlies tournament against Queens Park Rangers FC.

The Man United media website had reported The Red Devils’ boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s words on the matter. The manager had said, “Unfortunately, it’s worse news on Alex Telles than we hoped for, his ankle injury is a little bit more severe than we hoped and he’ll be out for a little spell at least, the whole of August I would think,”.

Now that August has come to an end, we will see the Brazilian left-back, hopefully, back in form for the fixture with Newcastle United. Usually sent in as a substitute for Luke Shaw, Telles has delivered to his potential and capability, on occasion being described as a ‘complete full-back’ by the United fans.

Scott Tominay, a Man United academy graduate, had signed with the club in 2017 during Jose Mourinho’s reign as manager. With an energetic style of play, he has displayed box-to-box midfielder abilities which have prompted him to emerge as a fan favourite.
