Harry Maguire has been on the news all around the world, for all the wrong reasons, following his sentence from the Greek court. The court found Maguire guilty of aggravated assault, resisting arrest and repeated attempts of bribery, and has also sentenced him prison for 21 months and 10 days. But because it was his first offence, the sentence has been suspended and Maguire will appeal against the verdict.
Maguire has appealed against the verdict and thus his conviction has been nullified, as there will be a re-trial in a senior court. Following the verdict, the English FA and England manager Gareth Southgate dropped Maguire from the squad for the upcoming games. Maguire was initially selected despite doubt over his future, but the verdict made Southgate drop the centre-back.
It was also reported that the United officials had a meeting sort-out the captaincy situation. But it has been reported by Sky Sports, that United have unanimously decided to back their captain and Maguire will keep the captaincy. The United captain has had a rough week and will look to get over things as soon as possible.
Harry Maguire has had a great first season at Old Trafford and will be looking to have an even better season the next time around.
