Serie A champions AC Milan are reportedly interested in moving in for Manchester United’s centre-back Eric Bailly who is on the fringes of the Old Trafford camp ahead of the start of the new season.
The Ivory Coast international has found himself out of favour in the United fold and with the new head coach Eric ten Hag bringing in Lisandro Martinez from Ajax, Bailly is heavily linked with a move away before the transfer window slams shut.
According to The Athletic, it is claimed that Italian champions AC Milan have joined the chase for Bailly’s signature but will have to fend off competition from local rivals AS Roma who are also keeping close tabs on the former Villarreal man.
Roma boss Jose Mourinho is keen on a potential reunion with his old United player with his fall down the pecking order imminent after Manchester United sounded out confirmation of Martinez’s signing in a big-money deal.
Mourinho is on the hunt for a fresh face to strengthen his side’s backline for the coming season and the Portuguese manager wants to land Bailly in a loan deal with an option to make the transfer permanent.
