AC Milan center-back Fikayo Tomori is reportedly being linked with a move to Manchester United. However, the club is busy in negotiations with the Ajax star as they have placed the first bid.
According to Di Marzio via Corriere Della Sera, the Premier League giants expressed interest in Tomori after the former Blue defender turned heads with a standout performance for the Serie A champions last season.
The 24-year-old Englishman’s current deal is slated to expire in June 2025, but according to the source, Milan management wants to extend it until 2027. It is expected that the Italian giants would certainly not sell their recently signed player for anything less than £40m.
The former Chelsea defender played in 40 games for the Serie A giants which helped to boost their league standing in their title-winning campaign.
After a terrible defensive performance by Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, and Victor Lindelof, the Red Devils are rumored to be searching for a new center-back this summer.
One of their prime targets is Lisandro Martinez but Erik ten Hag hasn’t yet gotten the Ajax defender’s signature. Tomori looks like an ideal coup but the club is not interested in any other defender other than the Argentine star.
Unfortunately, the Dutch manager might have trouble convincing Tomori if that is the case. Di Marzio claims that the AC Milan defender would not be interested in leaving the Rossoneri after last season’s victory.
Additionally, the Serie A powerhouses already lacked depth in their defense when Alessio Romagnoli left after his contract expired earlier this month.
As things stand, the defender is less likely to move to Old Trafford as the board is well focused on the deals to sign Lisandro Martinez and Antony.
