Sevilla agree deal to sign Manchester United striker Anthony Martial

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United and Sevilla have reached an agreement for Anthony Martial to join them on loan for the remainder of the season.

Martial had already spoken to the club that he wanted to depart this month, citing a lack of opportunity this season and a desire for a fresh challenge.

Sevilla has agreed to sign the French striker on a loan until the end of the season, while Fabrizio Romano reports that the deal does not contain a buy option for the Spanish club.

Martial’s wages will be paid in full throughout his six-month stay in La Liga, and he will go to Spain on Tuesday to finalize the deal, which is expected to cost Sevilla roughly €6 million due to a loan fee and the forward’s weekly wages.

Sevilla had been looking to bolster their attacking options this month since the team is now second in La Liga, just four points behind Real Madrid, and looking to win the championship for the first time since 1945–46.

Sevilla is thought to have been his preferred destination as he attempts to bounce back after a tough stint at Old Trafford. Barcelona and Juventus are also said to be interested in the France international.

Anthony Martial had a dismal 2020/21 season, scoring just four league goals, and has struggled to find his form again this season, starting just two Premier League matches.

He’ll look to replicate the form that earned him Player of the Season honors for the Red Devils in 2019/20 when he scored a career-high 23 goals in all competitions.

Since joining United from Monaco in 2015, Martial has made 279 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 79 goals and assisting 50 times.

We hope that this move helps him to bring back his goal-scoring form.
