Manchester United striker Anthony Martial is reportedly being targeted by Spanish clubs, Sevilla and Valencia.
Both teams will reportedly keep an eye on the Frenchman’s status in the following months, according to the Spanish outlet Todofichajes. The 26-year-old’s contract at Old Trafford expires in 2024, although United do have the option to extend it by an additional year.
Sevilla, where Martial spent the second half of the previous season on loan, is eager to work with the attacker once more. The France international scored one goal and provided one assist while living in Spain.
However, the Sevilla board were not entirely convinced by the striker’s development under Julen Lopetegui. But, they are ready to offer a second chance to Martial and recall him next summer on a permanent deal.
The Reds succumbed to a huge defeat against Manchester City in the local derby on Sunday but the former Monaco player scored twice off the bench for Erik ten Hag’s team. His return from injury is a good sign for the Red Devils since it will help them rotate their attackers in the upcoming run of games.
On the other side, United manager Ten Hag is said to have instructed the club’s board to hold off on awarding any new contracts until he has determined which members of his squad are deserving of them.
Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot, Cristiano Ronaldo, Fred, and David de Gea are among the players whose current contracts expire in 2023. It remains to be seen which of these players will get rewarded with a new contract next summer.
