Sevilla eyeing up a move for Manchester United outcast Victor Lindelof

As reported by Fichajes, Spanish giants Sevilla are interested in signing Manchester United centre-back Victor Lindelof this summer.

The 28-year-old has slipped down the defensive rankings at the club and is most likely to leave in the summer. Under the new leadership of Erik ten Hag, Victor Lindelof hasn’t played in many games.

He has lost favour since Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez joined Old Trafford. Additionally, it appears that the Dutch manager does not have him in his plans.

Sevilla has their best chance and is probably going to make a run for it. His contract will expire in 2024. However, United have the option to extend his contract by an additional year.

But since he can bring them a respectable sum of money, letting him go in the summer makes perfect sense. Despite making 214 appearances for the Premier League club, the 28-year-old hasn’t been able to secure a berth in the starting lineup.

A summer transfer could help him resurrect his career and see more time with the first team because of this. Ten Hag is expected to make a number of deals during the summer transfer window.

He will try to get rid of a few players and bring in new ones who might fit into his system.

Meanwhile, the current season is proving to be difficult for Sevilla manager Jorge Sampaoli. The Spanish team has just 24 points after 21 games, placing them in 12th place in the league.

They are looking for a new defence captain because they haven’t been able to rope in a replacement for either Diego Carlos or Jules Kounde.

It will be interesting to see whether Sevilla can work out a deal to sign the Swedish centre-back in the summer.
