Sheikh Jassim willing to welcome back Ole Gunnar Solksjaer back to United

As reported by the Mirror, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani is open to bringing back Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the manager if he successfully acquires Manchester United this summer.

Solskjaer was relieved of his duties by United in November 2021 following disappointing home losses against Liverpool and Manchester City.

The Norwegian served as the manager of the Red Devils for three years but was unable to secure any major trophies, including a loss in the Europa League final to Villarreal in May 2021.

United is not actively seeking a new manager as Erik ten Hag has been successful in his role. However, former manager Solskjaer has hinted at a potential return to the club in some capacity.

The United legend is a respected figure at Old Trafford, having scored the winning goal in the 1999 Champions League final during his playing career.

Sheikh Jassim is reportedly in negotiations with the Glazer family to secure a period of exclusivity for a complete takeover of United.

The Qatari banker is facing competition from Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the chief of INEOS. It may take some time before a takeover deal is finalized and completed.

Sheikh Jassim, who is potentially set to become the next owner of Man United, has expressed a desire to bring back club legends to Old Trafford.

While specific mentions were not made, the prospective owner’s shortlist is said to include former players under legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The former striker scored over 100 goals and won six Premier League titles under Ferguson’s leadership. The Norwegian has also recently discussed the possibility of returning to Old Trafford in a minor role.

However, for Sheikh Jassim’s bid to succeed, he will need to finalize a deal with the Glazer family and successfully pass the Premier League’s owners’ and directors’ test.

The completion of the takeover process could potentially take weeks or even months to be fully settled.

Seven months ago, the Glazer family put the club up for sale, and various parties, including Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, have submitted multiple offers.

However, there has been little progress in the negotiations, and there is a possibility that the current owners may decide to reverse their decision and remain at Old Trafford.

The ongoing uncertainty surrounding the club has raised concerns among United employees, who fear potential job losses. It is reported that over 800 staff members have received no information regarding the ongoing situation, despite media reports.

Ten Hag is also said to be frustrated with the lack of transparency regarding his summer transfer budget.

With the transfer window now open, the Dutch boss needs to bring in new talent if his team is to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title in the upcoming season.
