Manchester United might have made the surprise signing of Nigerian forward Odion Ighalo (on loan) in the January Transfer Window. But the players performance have prompted further questions as regards to Manchester United attacking position.
The Nigerian was signed alongside Portuguese international midfield player Bruno Fernandes following injured coped by England striker Marcus Rashford and French star Paul Pogba in the midfield region.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would have been delighted following Ighalo’s performance on the Red shirt. But would they sign him on a permanent basis owing to his loan move to Manchester United from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua.
Odion has made a massive impressive especially in the game (FA Cup) against Derby County scoring a brace even when the Derby side had Wayne Rooney in their ranks.
His exceptional qualities have been on show for all to see starting from his debut against Frank Lampard’s Chelsea side. His touch has caught the eye of many Manchester United followers while club legend Rio Ferdinand and Dimitar Berbatov has commended the striker’s quality.
Ferdinand is on support for the Red Devils to sign the player while Berbatov had come out to say that Ighalo has proven him wrong.
This was owing to the player’s maturity in transition while also handling the pressure from defenders in an exemplary fashion. He’s given United a focal point in attack while Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood support him from the flanks.
When Rashford returns he will add width to Manchester United’s attack alongside Spanish star Juan Mata as Rashford absence may have brought the signing of the more productive forward in Odion Ighalo.
It’s wise and commendable for the Red Devils to extended the forward’s stay at the club while making adequate signing to ensure the player (Odion) continued to flourish at the club in earnest.
