Sir Jim Ratcliffe completes 27.7 % stake in Manchester United

The British billionaire has expressed his commitment to elevate the Red Devils to the pinnacle of English, European, and global football in his initial statement following the takeover.

In December, Sir Jim Ratcliffe agreed with the Glazers to purchase a minority share in the club. The deal has received approval from both the Premier League and the English Football Association.

While mentioning about their ownership, Ratcliffe said (as per the club’s official website):

“To become co-owner of Manchester United is a great honour and comes with great responsibility. This marks the completion of the transaction, but just the beginning of our journey to take Manchester United back to the top of English, European and world football, with world-class facilities for our fans. Work to achieve those objectives will accelerate from today.”

The new share owner is resolute in transforming the fortunes of Man United, which has faced challenges under the unpopular ownership of the Glazer family.

Since agreeing to acquire a minority stake, the British billionaire has undertaken quality measures for the club’s improvement.

Dan Ashworth set to join Man Utd

The Old Trafford outfit is currently pursuing sporting director Dan Ashworth, known for his noteworthy contributions at Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle United.

While Newcastle are seeking huge compensation for Ashworth’s departure, the director is eager to make the move to Old Trafford, increasing the likelihood of United securing his services in the near future.

It is expected that the INEOS chief will also inject huge amounts of cash in the upcoming transfer window.

This would help the club to sign big names while also making sure that they sell some of their unwanted squad players.

Ratcliffe also has to deal with UEFA in making a decision regarding playing both Nice and Man United in the Champions League.

According to rules, two clubs with the same owners are not allowed to compete together in the competition.

There is a lot of work to do for the British billionaire both on and off the field. The fans would hope that the boyhood United fan will make smart decisions unlike the club’s former management.
