Sir Jim Ratcliffe Meets Jorge Mendes For Man Utd’s Transfer Plans

According to the Mirror, Manchester United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has met super agent Jorge Mendes to change the club’s old school transfer plans.

The Red Devils have been heavily criticised for their expensive and flawed strategy in the transfer market. They have preferred to sign world-class players for astronomical fee, only for these players to perform miserably.

Mendes has several superstars as clients such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Darwin Nunez, Bernardo Silva, Joao Neves, Pedro Neto and also manager Jose Mourinho.

The United management want to avoid making similar mistakes in the next transfer window and they have made changes in their hierarchy to achieve the same.

They have recruited Dan Ashworth from Newcastle United as their next sporting director and also brought in Jason Wilcox from Southampton as their next technical director.

Wilcox will be responsible for planning Erik ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford and also manage the club’s recruitment drive. New CEO Omar Berrada will be making final decisions based on signings and finances.

Working with Mendes will help them expand their scouting network and start signing young hungry players. Wolverhampton Wanderers have followed the agent’s plans and have improved their position in the league. Nottingham Forest are also heavily dependent on the Portuguese’ ideas.

Man Utd will also have the chance to consider players who are hosted by Mendez’. One such player is Benfica’s Joao Neves, a midfielder heavily linked with the English giants.

The 19-year-old is a type of player that suits Ratcliffe’s transfer strategy, young hungry future superstars. AC Milan’s Rafael Leao is also a client of Mendes and is being monitored by United.

However, he will be available for around £100million, which is a huge fee. Ratcliffe will consider signing players many young players for cheap rather than two or three costly acquisitions.
