Sir Jim Ratcliffe owned French club Nice affected by United’s takeover saga

According to French outlet L’Equipe, the ongoing takeover process at Manchester United has caused a state of uncertainty for French club Nice, as they are waiting to see if Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s bid is successful.

INEOS CEO Ratcliffe is competing against Sheikh Jassim for ownership of Man United.

The sale process, managed by Raine Group, has now extended into its eighth month since the Glazer family announced their intention to explore strategic alternatives for investment, including a potential full sale of the club in November 2022.

Both bidders, as well as Nice, which is already owned by INEOS, are facing a lack of clarity and information. This situation is not only impacting United’s transfer plans but also affecting the transfer plans of Nice.

Nice are currently in a state of uncertainty regarding their transfer activities, as they are unable to make new signings until the outcome of INEOS’ bid for United becomes clear.

The French club are in a state of ‘holding pattern’, as their transfer budget will be determined by the result of INEOS’ bid for Man United.

Additionally, Nice have yet to appoint a new manager after deciding not to extend Didier Digard’s contract. The sporting director, Florent Ghisolfi is currently facing restrictions in his transfer plans.

Meanwhile, former United player Gary Neville, who has been vocal in his criticism of the Glazer ownership, expresses concerns about the possibility that the American owners will continue to control the club.

Even if they don’t stay, there are higher chances that Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim will be the ideal candidate to take over the club.

We believe that Ratcliffe should accept defeat in this race and keep his focus on Nice’s development rather than making any more moves for the Red Devils.
