As per the Mirror, Britain’s richest man, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has remained tight-lipped amid the ongoing saga surrounding Manchester United.
The Glazers have decided to sell the club amid growing tensions among the fans. The American owners are ready to listen to quality offers and they are willing to listen to anyone who is willing to match their £8 billion valuation of the club.
However, there has been no statement by Radcliffe’s Ineos and the fans are eagerly waiting to hear it out from the billionaire himself. Ratcliffe’s net worth is around £13.46 billion and he already owns a third of Mercedes’ Formula One team.
The wealthy businessman was interested in buying a Premier League club last summer.
He was linked with a complete takeover at Chelsea but the Raine group decided to reject his bid. In the end, American billionaire Todd Boehly was handed the keys to Stamford Bridge.
Once again, investment banking firm, Raine group will be the one to take care of United’s sale offers. It remains to be seen whether Ratcliffe prefers to have a talk with the firm.
The fans have already suffered a major setback, as Ineos had earlier revealed that they are looking forward to investing in French club Nice.
Glazer’s valuation may hit them hard once again, but with a quality bid, they can take over the reins at Old Trafford. Ratcliffe has previously mentioned that he is a lifelong United fan and he wants to buy a premier club.
The British billionaire is aware of the huge profit extracted from the club with United coming in the third spot when it comes to net profit generated annually. Real Madrid and Barcelona lead the charts in terms of global profits. The Glazer family has been a major flop among the fans since taking over the club in 2005. United has failed to compete for major titles in the past five years and a miraculous change is needed to lift the club to the place where it belongs.
