Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s ownership will not affect Erik ten Hag’s future at Man United

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS’ expected takeover does not seem to put Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag’s job in jeopardy, as reported by The Athletic.

A meeting has been scheduled for Thursday where the club’s management will review Ratcliffe’s proposal to acquire a 25% stake in the club, which would give him significant influence over sporting decisions.

While Ratcliffe is eager to bring about changes at the club, Ten Hag’s position does not seem to be immediately threatened.

This is despite the high expectations for United to compete for the Premier League title this season, following their successful debut campaign under the Dutchman, which included a third-place finish and League Cup victory.

Despite the fact that the Red Devils have had a very disappointing start to the 2023-24 season, with only 12 points from their first eight Premier League matches and losses in their first two Champions League games, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS are said to greatly appreciate Ten Hag’s managerial work. They have no plans to let go of the manager.

However, INEOS are reportedly looking to bring in Paul Mitchell, a former talent recruiter at AS Monaco, as the club’s new sporting director.

Currently, John Murtough and Darren Fletcher are responsible for recruitment, and they have overseen significant investments by the Glazer family, amounting to around £400 million during Ten Hag’s tenure as manager.

The Dutch boss has had a big role in transfer market decisions, often working with individuals he knows well from his tactical approach. However, INEOS aims to introduce a specialist to manage the club’s recruitment strategy.

While Ten Hag’s position appears secure in the short term, the future of the club could see major changes if INEOS’s bid is approved.
