Solksjaer expects heavy team rotation ahead of hectic schedule

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer acknowledges he should rotate his Manchester United squad heavily to stay away from their chances of getting injured in an overwhelming run of three Premier League games in five days.

The Red Devils face Aston Villa on Sunday prior to facilitating Leicester City on Tuesday, with Liverpool at that point visiting Old Trafford 48 hours after the fact for the match that was reworked following a heavy protest against the Glazers a weekend ago.

It will be the first run through United has played three alliance games in five days since April 1992. On that event, they beat Southampton 1-0 at home prior to drawing at Luton Town and afterward enduring back-to-back losses to Nottingham Forest, West Ham, and Liverpool. They wound up losing the title to Leeds United by four crucial points.

While winning the Premier League will be past them if pioneers Manchester City beat Chelsea on Saturday, runner-up United actually requires four additional points to be sure of a top-four completion and have a Europa League final to come on May 26 which will be the most important game.

Solskjaer is worried about a rehash of the outcomes they endured 29 years prior and is anxious to ensure his players don’t get worn out.

Solksjaer said while talking to the club’s official website: “I’ve never seen that schedule before in modern-day football. I’ve looked through and I know Man United in 91-92 had a very similar run-in and you can see how the results deteriorated. If I’m going to look after the players, I’m going to make some decisions. I’ve got to look after the players, that’s the biggest thing, [avoiding] injuries to players and that’s too much of an injury risk. This year has been so difficult, but we’re happy to put games on. It’s so important to be safe with security around, I understand all this, it’s got to be safe for the players. We want to try to put a good product out there. At the moment, it looks difficult, but knowing these boys, they’ll take the challenge head-on. Knowing me, I’ll take the challenge head-on too but I cannot risk the players, so there has to be rotation. It has to be a lot of rotation and decisions made on the day of the game. We can’t prepare for the games like other teams when they get a week or two, or maybe five or 10 days.”

Manchester United were in Rome on Thursday, where they got a spot in the Europa League last with an 8-5 total success in spite of losing the semi-final second leg by a 3-2 scoreline.

They should now get ready to confront Villa, who have beaten United only once in the previous 44 Premier League gatherings and in none of their past 21 such games at Villa Park.
