Solksjaer: Maybe we can start Diogo and Donny against Preston

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is optimistic about the fitness of Diogo Dalot and Donny Van De Beek ahead of United’s match against Preston. He has been carefully examining the fitness of his players who have been returning from International matches.

Diogo Dalot came on as a substitute in the 46th minute against Brentford. Van De Beek also came on as a substitute in the 76th minute and he wore the captain’s armband for the rest of the match.

It was great to see both the young players returning to the field for Manchester United. They were smooth and played good passes which clearly is a sign that they have been training well after their recent injury setback.

As reported by the club’s official website, Solksjaer revealed that both the players are close to making it to the starting XI against Preston. He said: “Maybe we can start Diogo and Donny [against Preston on Saturday] as I said before the game, so let’s see how the other boys who have come back feel on Friday night, Saturday morning.”

It will be really great for both the players especially Donny Van De Beek as he has received very few starts last season. He needs game-time and the sooner he returns to his best shape, the better are his chances to fix his spot in the starting XI.
