As reported by the Guardian, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer believes that his boys can win the Premier League this season. United last won the Premier League trophy in 2013, in the Sir Alex Ferguson era.
Solksjaer is confident that his players will deliver a Premier League trophy and will put in great performances.
He said: “Of course these boys can, with a maximum effort and maximum sacrifice. It’s been City and Liverpool fighting it out for a while but we and Chelsea have spent well and should look at ourselves as potential challengers.”
Since Ferguson’s departure, United has failed to lift the trophy. David Moyes, Louis Van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, all failed to lift the PL trophy. Now Solksjaer has been given the responsibilities and he is pretty confident that his players will perform for the trophy this season.
Solksjaer came very close at times to win a trophy but stumbled at the last stage. In the 2019-20 season, he entered four semi-finals but failed to enter the finals of any competition. In the 2020-21 season, he entered the finals of the Europa League but failed to defeat Villarreal in the finals.
He finished the league in the second position last season just behind fierce rivals Manchester City. Liverpool and Chelsea finished behind Manchester United and that is a good sign of progress for Solksjaer.
Yet, the manager and his players will aim for the trophy as he knows that only silverware will give justice to their performances. Solksjaer had signed a new contract last month and will stay at Old Trafford till June 2024.
Manchester United will kick off their new Premier League season against Leeds United on the 14th of August. Our players have been training well this preseason and all their hard work will be on display for the upcoming season.
