Solksjaer provides Edinson Cavani fitness updates

As reported by the club’s official website, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has provided updates regarding Edinson Cavani’s fitness. The Uruguyuan striker was given a lengthy vacation after he participated in the Copa America.

His age was one of the factor behind giving him more rests in comparison to his teammates. He was performing well for Manchester United last season and was in fine form as he played 39 matches and scored 17 times.

He was regularly present in the starting XI and therefore, a long vacation was required for Edinson Cavani. He has now returned to training and was snapped practising with his teammates.

Solksjaer was asked about Cavani’s fitness before United’s match against Southampton. He said:

“Edinson’s always looked after himself. Of course, he’s lacking in team training, in football training but he’s been looking after himself and you can see that. He had different reasons as to why he was late, personal reasons, but his body can tolerate a lot. It wasn’t that he needed those extra days physically. He’s chomping at the bit, he’s ready to go and let’s see how much we can get out of him early on.”

Solksjaer highlighted that there were many other reasons as well behind Cavani’s absence. He is still not ready for team football. He has been practising and will be working hard. It seems that United will wait for few more matches before naming him in the substitutes.

A few more matches and he will be ready to fire more goals for Manchester United.

Nothing can stop Edi.
