Solksjaer: Rashford not expected to play full 90 mins against Granada

Manchester United face Granada on 9th April and this seems a very interesting match to watch. United has been in great shape in the competition and has eliminated big teams such as RB Leipzig.

Granada has entered the competition for the first time and has still shown great promise moving forward.

Many of the first team players were expected to play. International duty brought in fresh injury concerns. Rashford withdrew early from the squad and his chances to play the match were looking slim. But he was observed preparing in the training grounds ahead of the clash.

Now Ole Gunnar Solksjaer confirmed in his latest press conference that Rashford’s fitness has been observed sharply and they can’t take a risk in terms of the player’s fitness. He will not be able to play the full match but he can surely play a role in the match if he stays fit in the training.

Solksjaer said: “Marcus is traveling and we’ve just got to make a decision tomorrow whether he starts or whether he’s on the bench. I don’t think he’ll be a 90-minute man, so let’s see where we are tomorrow. Marcus joined in training this morning, so let’s see how he reacts. If there’s a risk of making this worse, I won’t play him.”

Other players like Eric Bailly will also be unavailable to play as he has been tested as Covid positive. Similarly, Anthony Martial is also expected to miss the match as he suffered an injury during France’s match against Kazakhstan.

Rashford’s fitness will be examined and whether he will be included or not depends on his performances on the training grounds. Meanwhile, young forward Anthony Elanga has been included in United’s squad traveling to Granada. Amad Diallo is also in contention to play for United.

Interesting selection, isn’t it?
